Obama Working on Guantanamo Closure Motto to Win More Votes in Elections TEHRAN (FNA)- Similar to the slogan of change chanted by Barack Obama during his first presidential campaign, his mottos about closing the United States' gruesome prison in the Guantanamo Bay are again meant to help him secure a second win in the upcoming elections, President of Brazil's Joao Goulart Institute said.

"Obama is facing another election next year and he intends to use this motto about the closure of Guantanamo prison to collect peoples' votes," Joao Vicente Goulart told FNA on Monday. Meantime, the Brazilian researcher underlined that the US would by no means leave the Guantanamo bay. Hundreds of inmates, who are totally deprived of international POW rights, including those stressed in the Geneva Treaties on POWs, are still incarcerated in the US Mediaeval-type prison in Guantanamo Bay in Southeast Cuba, where they are tortured to death. Former inmates of the Guantanamo prison in Cuba have on many occasions complained that their US jailors had tortured them into identifying themselves as the members of the Al-Qaeda terrorist group. Benyam Mohammad, who is Ethiopian by origin but lives in the UK, was arrested in Pakistan in 2002 and was extradited to the UK after seven years in prison. Speaking in a press conference six months after his release in 2009, Mohammad described his goal as executing justice for the inmates who are still in US prisons. Mohammad stressed that he still remembers the tortures exercised on him at the US prisons and has not yet been able to return to normal life since he was released from Guantanamo. Recalling the tortures he sustained during his imprisonment at a CIA managed Afghan prison, he said, "The detention center was dubbed as the dark room and the inmates were kept in a dark room and were bombed with a loud voice of pop music." Mohammad reiterated that even now when he enters a dark room the tormenting memories of the prison come alive.
